Topic: Speaking of Christie's Seljuk II

Whoops, RK has been bamboozled, tricked and stupefied by our own gullibility and an error in the Christie's online catalog.

The picture that appeared in the catalog, which is still online as of this morning, is of an actual Seljuk rug from the Museum in Istanbul and not the small fragment they are offering.

Yesterday when we saw the online catalog we did not realize this error and stupidly believed the Museum piece was what they were selling.

This morning we received an email alerting us to the fact Christies had done this dumbass thing....and we fell for it....

The photo we mentioned in the earlier post is posted below

Lot 100

We still stand by our assessment the fragment is an old reproduction.

And by the way, when RK first began to search for historic weaving in London in the early 1970's some of the dealers used to call Christies, Shifties.

Now we venture to report that moniker is well earned.
