There is little doubt hillary clinton will be running for president on the Democratic ticket in 2016. Well, that is if she can shake off numerous impediments to a convention sweep.
Today's Times has a front page article concerning bill&hill's efforts to recast themselves as friends of the black community, which is a vocal and large voting contingent. And one any candidate needs to get elected to the White House.
According to the article "Bill and Hillary Clinton have sought to soothe their relationship with African-Americans, the group that was most scarred during her first bid for the presidency."
It goes on to mention several snubs and gaffs she and he have made. But it avoids mentioning the best and most grievous.
"Former President Bill Clinton tried to get former senator Ted Kennedy to endorse Hillary Clinton for president in the 2008 election by describing Barack Obama this way: "A few years ago, this guy would have been carrying our bags."
This anecdote is revealed in a New Yorker article on the relationship between Bill Clinton and Obama:
Tim Russert told me that, according to his sources, Bill Clinton, in an effort to secure an endorsement for Hillary from Ted Kennedy, said to Kennedy, “A few years ago, this guy would have been carrying our bags.”
Any wonder why?
