Certain people in the carpet world, obviously one of them employed at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (MMA) in New York, believe showing representations of carpets in paintings will raise the stature of of those carpets.
This is ass-backwards stupid logic.
Well for starters numerous famous painters have acknowledged their deep debt to carpets for teaching them about color and design.
Some were even carpet collectors.
So the carpet in reality is not raised by showing it in paintings.
This failure to properly position the carpet and painting paradigm is just part of RugDumb's dire inabilities to both figuratively and literally get the carpet off the floor as a decorative object and onto the wall as an "art work".
And don't go telling RK putting a carpet onto a stretcher and hanging it on the wall does anything other than foolishly turn a three dimensional object into a two dimensional one.
